GEAR RATIO

Hello ! I am Murthy A V N (You can call me just Murthy ! don’t bother about the initials !) , an undergraduate student at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. I am currently in Sophomore year of study majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

And Why am I blogging on Gear Ratio ?

Nearing the end of 3rd Sem (that was Autumn/Fall 2007), I felt a dire need of documenting and saving the vast lots of interesting stuff (and sometimes mundane) that we learn in our course work and beyond. A place where I can refer back and in the process , if possible , share my knowledge and know how and errors therein. Being a technical blog, I do not see the hit counter on my blog soaring up . Not many will be interested and few would participate. If I am able to store chronologically and systematically, whatever little interesting stuff that I come across , the blog will serve its purpose !

I began this blog totally out of interest in this discipline. I would like to quote Henri Poncaire here (Courtesy nonoscience.info – A definite Inspiration for this blog)

If nature were not beautiful, it would not be worth knowing, and if nature were not worth knowing, life would not be worth living. Of course I do not here speak of that beauty that strikes the senses, the beauty of qualities and appearances; not that I undervalue such beauty, far from it, but it has nothing to do with science; I mean that profounder beauty which comes from the harmonious order of the parts, and which a pure intelligence can grasp
